Summer Snapshots

Got first in my age division for the 10K!!

I totally schooled the girls I was babysitting the other day.

It's so great to have time to run with my mom now!

Risky or stupid? I was afraid for a second I would be pushing my car into the fuel station

I'm a little hardcore about my sudoku puzzles
Fresh tomatoes for summer!

I'm spending a whole lot of time at the pool! Already finished a book. What to read next...

Laura and I discovered an amazing new store at the mall. We were so excited!

Memorial Day

Yesterday was such a good day. I am so thankful for all the men and women who have worked so hard to give me the freedoms and opportunities that I have.
I spend much of the day at my great friend Laura's home hanging out and cooking a meal for our families. One of the things we have decided to do together this summer is to host each other's family every week or so for dinner and just hang out.
We kicked it off last night with a bang! Last night for supper we grilled hamburgers (it was my first time to ever use a grill!!) and had them alongside grilled corn, homemade jalapeño cheddar buns, fresh salsa, cole slaw and yummy nutella filled pastries for dessert! I just can't help but toot my own horn and say that Laura and I did a great job, and it was very yummy.
I can't wait to do it again! Here's a link to the recipes that we used. L&A Dinner Recipes

Pause for Summer

So I've been pretty much slumming it when it comes to what I wear since I've gotten home from school for the summer. I haven't had trouble with the no shopping rule, but I haven't documented a single thing for my remix. Therefore, I've decided to press pause and pick things back up later in this summer once I get out of this funk. I'm thinking I'll start over August 1. I'm still going to carry out the 30 days of no shopping, but I'm not going to worry about documenting it until I start again in August.

Summer's Finally Here!!!

Do you think I have enough junk? My roommate has a rule that whatever doesn't fit in the car gets left behind. I guess we can all see I was not going to let that happen. Yesterday was my last day of spring semester! I got home with a car full of stuff and an afternoon of time to waste. It feels so good to have nothing to do. I'm planning on soaking up as much relaxation as possible over these next few weeks before my month of summer school starts! Happy summer everyone!

Weekend of Procrastination

This weekend was supposed to be spent studying and getting ready for my upcoming final exams. Did that happen? No, but my room is starting to look good! I think I am the biggest procrastinator I have ever known. I spent the whole weekend doing anything I could not to study even though I know that it was what I needed to be doing. I'm not the only one that does this, right? Well I spent a lot of time up in my room preparing to move all of my stuff back in for the summer. Fun! I thought that I was an organized person, but it turns out I'm not at all. I'm actually kind of a hoarder.
See all the pointe shoes I've collected over the years? I usually have them all tucked away nice and out of sight, but Kate had to use their container a few weeks ago so when I came home this weekend they were all on my bed. I took this as a cue to get cleaning. I found so many pairs of pointe shoes this weekend I didn't know I had that it kind of freaked me out. I even found my first pair!
Another way I procrastinated this weekend was by waking up this morning and heading out for a run. It was the fastest I've run in quite a while! I saw so many animals. I almost ran over a king snake! If my heart wasn't pumping fast before, it definitely was the rest of the run. We made eye contact. I also saw several little groups of geese! I love to see all the little babies as I run by the pond. So cute!
Also, we had a super hero weekend and all caught up on our movies so that we can go see The Avengers this weekend. I have heard so many good things about this movies, and now I just can't wait to go see it! I'm pretty sure out of all the movies we watched this weekend Captain America was my favorite.
Well, now I am back at school and can no longer put off the inevitable. Ugh..... off to study my spanish and sociology. Wish me luck!!

Fun Day!

Today started off bright and early! I went and did 5 miles with my mom and Caroline. We did 10 minutes straight running! It felt pretty good, but I'm a little tired now. After the run, we all headed home and caroline had her recital this afternoon. She's growing up so much! Her playing was very beautiful and I am very proud of her. She's such a talented musician. I hope she keeps it up. To celebrate her recital, we all went out to Yogn Frut. It was so good! I love me some frozen yogurt for sure.
The rest of the day has consisted of preparing to go see The Avengers. My mom and I watched Captain America this afternoon. Then we all sat down after dinner and watched The Hulk. Now, all that is left is Iron Man 2. I'm so excited! I'm right on track to see the new movie when I get home from exams midweek. Fun stuff!
The result of the day was very successful, and I hope everyone is having as good a weekend as I am!

30 Day Remix days 1-3: Comfy for classes!

I did something I don't do very often Sunday, and went ahead and planned out my clothes for the whole class week. It made it so much easier to get ready in the morning! Usually I have morning dance classes so I can just throw on whatever, but since classes ended last week I had to put more effort in. I have such a hard time deciding what I want to wear, most days, that I just end up wearing something boring. Now, you might think that what I have worn this week is still boring, but at least I've gotten ready in record time!

Monday: Day 1
Dress - Zara
Belt - Walmart
Cardigan - Target
Shoes - Payless

Tuesday: Day 2
Shirt - Forever 21
Jeans - Charlotte Russe
Shoes - Target
Necklace - American Eagle

Wednesday: Day 3

New goal on the horizon!

Today registration opened for the St. Jude Half Marathon and boy am I excited! I did this race last December and it was great. It was my first race after my marathon, and I ran it with my dad. What a good experience! The race has a great route, and you get to run through the St. Jude campus. It was so cool to be cheered on by the families everyone was running for. I just can't say enough good things about this hospital, their work or their race. The race is the biggest St. Jude puts on to raise money. This hospital works almost completely off of the donations given by people throughout the year. The more they raise the more they can offer their patients. Did you know that they never turn away patients for financial deficiency? This is why it is so important for people to participate and support these events! Consider registering for this event, and set your date for December 1, 2012. This is the perfect time to set a goal and commit to such a great cause. If you don't think you can do the half or full marathon, sign up for the 5K! I encourage everyone to look into it.
I have signed up to run as a hero, which means that I will be raising donations for the race. I will be posting updates every so often about how my training is going as well as my fundraising. Feel free to check out my page and donate as well! Click here!

30 Day Remix begins tomorrow!

People that know me know that I really love to shop. It's one of my favorite past times. It can be a good thing. I mean it makes potentially dreadful trips to the mall bearable. It is causing me a problem because money doesn't grow on trees! I've gotten into a bad habit of buying everything I think is cool whenever I have money, and this is so not a wise way to handle my resources. To fix the problem I've decided to follow in my good friend Laura's footsteps and do a 30 day remix. This means no more shopping for a month, no outfit repeats, and I have to try outfits I have not tried before. This should be fun! I took a picture of what I wore today, but I'm going to start tomorrow because I don't think I wore this outfit long enough for it to count (I changed into shorts and a tee after church). I'm going to go ahead an apologize for my bad quality mirror pictures. (:  This should be fun. Wish me luck!

Jacket - Gap
Shirt - Forever 21
Jeans - Charlotte Russe
Shoes - Nine West c/o JC Penny
Bag - EBay

Oh, and if you have any ideas in the coming posts on how I can change things up and keep them interesting, comment and let me know!

Home Stretch

Here are a few pictures of what my home stretch look like...

I've been spending the past few days with my bum glued to my desk chair studying away. Also, I know the end is near because I'm finally running out of soap. I really accumulated a lot before school started, and sadly my favorite has reached its end. ): Possibly the highlight of my week so far, though, has been watching MM Live. I'm a sucker for funny parents. For those of you who watch it regularly, would you believe they're like this out of the public eye, too? I think I'll keep them. (:
I only have 15 days until I'm out of school for the summer! 5 of which I'm not in classes and 2 of which are exam/pack and drive home days. I can't believe I'm already to the (hopefully) halfway point of undergrad!!
